About Us

After growing up sailing and boating on the Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, owner Pete Lewis moved to Lake Tahoe in 1996 and began to teach sailing with the Tahoe Community Sailing Program and work for Truckee boatbuilder James Betts. He then worked for Tahoe Sailing Supply under Chris Catt as a rigger and manager between 2000 and 2008. Pete went on to study Engineering (BSME, University if Nevada, Reno 2012) and later design solar thermal and HVAC systems.

Pete’s love of sailing, mechanical systems and a well rigged boat have brought him back to start Tahoe Sailboat Service. He is known for attention to detail, quality work and friendly customer service. Pete’s son Callahan was born in 2020 and is eager to “learn the ropes”.
